Davin Cho grew up in Chicago, the son of Korean immigrant parents. His father spent years scrubbing floors in gas stations and stocking coolers before saving enough to buy a station of his own. To the young Davin, the lesson was clear: his father was the boss, but that autonomy was earned through relentless physical grit.

Although Davin's father built a life through labor, his hope for his children was different: education, stability, and a corporate career. Davin followed that path for more than a decade. After graduating with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois, he bypassed medical school to impact medicine from another angle, working across strategy, sales, marketing, and commercial operations at firms like Guidehouse, Amgen, and Foundation Medicine.

The Problem of “Slow” Intelligence

Across those roles, Davin consistently saw that billion-dollar decisions were being made on the back of manual, fragmented data. Market intelligence and business development teams were drowning in spreadsheets, spending weeks stitching together trial information just to answer basic questions about what is important.

“Decisions were rarely wrong,” Davin says. “They were just being made slowly. By the time the research was in, the information was often already outdated.”

After spending years spent inside complex life sciences organizations, the drag of manual knowledge work had become impossible to ignore. So Davin set out to build Miraei.

Beyond the Database: Automating Human Workflows

Miraei is an agentic platform that automates the workflows human business development teams have traditionally performed by hand. Rather than simply scanning the clinical landscape, Miraei mirrors how BD teams research, triage, and prioritize opportunities, compressing weeks of manual work into minutes and allowing teams to focus on judgment and relationship-building instead of data assembly.

“We’re not replacing human decision-making,” Davin explains. “We’re automating the work that happens before the decision, and raising the scientific baseline so teams can engage credibly with high-science biopharma partners.”

Launched just seven months ago, Miraei is already working with leading life sciences companies and has raised over $1M in pre-seed funding. This traction serves as a signal: teams operating in complex, high-science environments are willing to pay for tools that meaningfully reduce friction.

Miraei's Impact in the Field

In practice, this changes how sales and BD teams operate. Teams can use Miraei to surface relevant partnership opportunities faster and understand exactly who to reach out to, and why. Instead of generic outreach, sales teams gain scientific context around trials, assets, and decision-makers, enabling more informed conversations with biopharma counterparts.

For many customers, the shift is immediate. Work that once lived across dozens of spreadsheets and disconnected tools collapses into a single, coherent workflow. And for Davin, the clearest signal of value is watching teams realize that the research they assumed had to be manual no longer is. That realization, when opportunity identification and scientific understanding come together, is exactly what Miraei is built to deliver.

The Path to “Inevitable”

When asked what advice he gives other founders navigating the pre-seed stage, Davin is pragmatic. Early on, he says, investors are not backing teams with the perfect plan. They are backing founders who keep moving when plans break.

“In the beginning, they invest in founders who are inevitable,” Davin says. For him, inevitability has little to do with pedigree. It comes from knowing a problem deeply enough to keep pushing forward, even when the original path doesn’t hold.

For Davin Cho, the journey from a Chicago gas station to building AI for life sciences wasn’t linear. But it was driven by a problem he understood firsthand, and a conviction that it could be done better.
