Samraaj Bath is Building ion design to Help Marketers Scale Landing Page Creation

Modern consumers expect website experiences to be nuanced and tailored to their interests in the moment. For marketers, that means each ad, use case, case study, and competitor comparison needs its own dedicated page, testing variants at scale to see what performs. This may be feasible for major brands like Amazon and Salesforce, but it presents a challenge for marketers at lean startups.
Creating a landing page for a new campaign isn’t as simple as hitting “duplicate page”—marketers are often reliant on designers to help them create landing page variations. And when design is stretched thin across other departments, marketing gets blocked.
That’s why Samraaj Bath is building ion design, an AI-powered platform that enables marketers to automatically create, launch, and optimize on-brand landing pages for every campaign without manual design work.
Introducing ion design: A Landing Page for Every Campaign
ion begins by extracting your brand identity—including colors, fonts, voice, and visual patterns—and ingesting content, such as case studies, product features, competitors, ad campaigns, and SEO goals. The platform then automatically creates landing pages for every use case, prospect, and campaign, and implements an AI agent dedicated to monitoring changes, performance, and goals for continuous optimization.
Every ad campaign gets its own landing page, every competitor has its own comparison page, and every feature gets a traffic-driving asset. Meanwhile design can stay focused on strategic brand work and high-priority product launches.
ion is backed by Y Combinator and partnering with leading startups and CPG brands, helping teams achieve as much as a 250% increase in ad conversions and 5x increase in page production speed.
Samraaj’s Journey to ion design
Samraaj has always had a knack for building things and sharing them. This began as early as eighth grade, when he figured out how to write the quadratic formula on his TI-83 calculator and charged classmates to install it on theirs, before eventually graduating to selling subwoofers and shoes on Craigslist in high school.
After college, Samraaj initially followed a corporate path, with roles at Microsoft, Intuit, Expensify, and Bravado. It wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic, when he began making chai ice cream in his garage and selling it regionally, that he rediscovered his passion for creating. “I was hand delivering everything myself. I was going to beaches in Seattle and selling and that is when I found I was absolutely the happiest. So I started doing it and that was kind of the most natural way for me to get into entrepreneurship.”
Samraaj soon moved beyond ice cream, first building a birthday wishing app that grew to 10k+ users, and next starting a venture-backed startup in the developer tooling space. It was during this time that he developed Bifrost, the first LLM-powered Figma-to-code product.
Built in 2021 using an early version of GPT-3, Bifrost enabled PMs and front-end engineers to turn designs into code. The tool got over a million impressions online, but as similar products were quickly introduced the space became fiercely competitive. When Samraaj put the solution in front of marketers, however, he saw they were using it to spin out landing pages for very specific pieces that matched their existing pages. He realized that he could adapt Bitfrost’s underlying product to support marketing use cases instead of product, and pivoted to launch ion design.
Just two years later, ion has raised over $1.8M in funding and is powering leading growth teams. In the long run, Samraaj believes that platforms like ion will be a no-brainer for all teams, enabling websites to build themselves and test at scale while marketers focus on strategic decisions and creativity.
Samraaj’s Advice for Fellow Founders
For Samraaj, the driver of entrepreneurship has always been curiosity and creativity. Starting with making ice cream in his garage, to later building software products in emerging spaces, he’s been led by his curiosity, describing selling as “a second-order effect of being creative.”
He encourages fellow builders to protect and nurture this curiosity and keep exploring new ideas. “Just never stop learning,” he says. “You can't stop hacking on random projects over the weekends, because that's how you learn how new things work. That's how you keep your brain sharp. That's how you get in the practice of productionizing things over and over again."
He says this is especially challenging for founders raising venture funding. “When you add leverage and pressure to a situation it prevents you from being creative. When founders get caught up in ‘I’ve raised X amount of capital,’ ‘I have this many investors,’ ‘I have this many employees,’ it prevents them from taking a step back and asking ‘how do I actually express myself creatively and become comfortable failing?" Because ultimately, he emphasizes, “if you’re not learning and having fun, what’s the point?”
